Busy weekend

It definitely was that at our house this weekend. Saturday we packed up and went south to Columbus GA for our niece/Emily's cousin Ann Marie's birthday. Emily had a great time watching all the big kids play and trying to keep up with her big cousin. Ann Marie was great at helping Emily in and out of the wagon and talking to her about picnics and other stuff. The weather was bright and sunny and the kids all had a great time.

Sunday we had the church annual meeting after service which made for a long day. But Emily was a trooper. It helped that she had her buddy Jamie to play with in the nursery. And one of my former youth now works with the kids in the nursery so she took the munchkins to play in the nursery during the meeting as well. Emily decided that potlucks were definitely the way to go - she loved the carrot casserole, sweet potato casserole, cream corn and meatloaf. After all the playing she slept hard during naptime - and mom was able to grab a little nap with her too. In the evening she played with daddy and had a very yummy dinner of more meatloaf (not so much of a winner this time), LOTS of carrots and green beans, sweet potato fries, and fruit (which is her favorite). That night she decided to help mom in the kitchen but playing in the one cabinet she is allowed in - the cereal cabinet. She took out every single box of cereal - every bag out of every box - then each of the boxes of oatmeal - and every bag out of them - then the boxes of granola bars - and YEP every granola bar out. Thankfully she did not dump the bags and found as much fun with putting things back in the boxes as taking them out. :)

She also signed her first sentence - More food (or more hungry - if you want to be literal) - we were very excited. She has also expanded her vocabulary to include mama, dada, do (dog), bye bye, and mo (more)... although she does not like to perform on command... :) We have already started calling her little miss Independent because now that she can walk she is not a fan of the stroller (unless it's moving) - much preferring to explore on her own... :)
